Reasons to Love Washington D.C. Right Now
Love comes in all forms, and this Valentine's Day, we thought we'd honor a type of romance that everyone can relate to: Love for your city. After all, urban living may be frustrating, crowded, gritty and just plain exhausting sometimes, but it can also be incredibly moving, full of moments of human tenderness, delightful experiences, and of course, delicious food. That's the part of city life we're honoring this month with a collection of happy stories to bring a smile to your day. (Psst, we've found reasons to love other cities around the country as well: Check out our guides to Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York).
Reasons to love DC Right Now...
Because the best cocktails in the world are coming
British cocktail maker extraordinaire Ryan Chetiyawardana – whose London bar Dandelyan was voted the best bar in the world – is opening a new spot in the new Riggs Washington DC hotel. Its mission? To elevate often-maligned cocktails (think: fancy, Jello-O shots).
Because you can now throw axes to get out your aggression
Feeling frustrated? There's no better way to take care of your feelings than a good old-fashioned ax-throwing party, which you can now do at Kick Axe Throwing.
Because a museum is opening devoted to words
Planet Word will be a new interactive playground for bookworms, with the goal of bringing “language to life.”
...And there is bi-partisan support for another that will honor American Women's History
The House gave the thumb's up for such a museum to be built as a Smithsonian.
