Whether it's hiking to a restaurant or practicing yoga on the beach, it's easy to stay active on vacation. Hotels are now offering exercise options that are beyond state-of-the-art equipment. From laughter yoga to mermaid fitness, here are four of the most innovative wellness programs to try on your next trip.
Work up a sweat as you learn the routines from Broadway hits like Chicago, Chorus Line, West Side Story and more at Carillon Miami Wellness Resort. In addition to dance, the hotel's 70,000-square-foot wellness center offers over 200 classes per week including rock wall bootcamp (a hybrid bootcamp-meets-rockwall climbing experience), sandbell strength, and more.
Laughter Yoga
Amankila resort overlooking the stunning Lombok Straight in Bali features Hasyayoga classes, which start with stretching, clapping, and focused breathing to get you ready for the laughing exercises. The class often closes with a laughter meditation, where yogis lie down and let the giggles flow naturally.
Mermaid Fitness
Pack your bathing suit and try channeling your inner Ariel at Hotel Del Coronado. The 45-minute Mermaid Fitness workout class is a blend of cardio, strength training, and swimming set to upbeat music in and around the hotel’s Beach Village pool while wearing a mermaid tail.
Snowga
Elite Ski Team co-director Aurélia Chrétien Pomès created a snowga class (a combo of skiing and yoga) at Chalet Les Brames in Meribel, France that is geared towards women. Pomès, who is a trained osteopath, pilates therapist, yoga and ski instructor, designed the program with a holistic approach based on the fundamental principles of yoga: breathing, stretching, mindfulness, and adapting to the surroundings. The Snowga package includes five full days of private ski lessons and yoga, sports massages, and osteopathy treatments during your stay in the Alps.
