Did you know you can make your own ice cream right at home with simple household ingredients! Ahead of our July Ice Cream Making experience, check out some fun tips for making sweet treats at home. It’s a perfect activity for kids home from school, for when you and your friends want to get out of the Summer NYC heat, or just any time – you don’t need an excuse to make ice cream!
• Whisk 2 Eggs in a bowl
• Slowly whisk in ¾ cup sugar until frothy and thick
• Mix in 1 Cup Milk (or soy alternative), 2 cups Heavy Cream (or coconut cream), and 2 tsp vanilla extract
If you don’t have an immersion blender:
• Pour all ingredients into Ziploc bag with toppings of your choice
• Remove all air from bag, and place in a second bag to prevent tearing
• Fill a separate larger bag or container halfway with ice
• (Optionally) add salt to that ice
• Add in bag with ice cream mixture, and fill large bag or container with ice to the top
• (Optionally) add more salt to the top ice
Shake bags vigorously for ~15 minutes until the ice cream forms a thick custard
If you have an immersion blender:
• Pour all ingredients into bowl with toppings of your choice (chocolate chips, oreos, fruit, etc.)
• Mix with immersion blender until ice cream forms a thick custard
• Let set in freezer for an hour or longer, grab a spoon, and enjoy!
