8 Delicious Mocktail Recipes for a Dry January
For anyone looking for a resolution they may actually keep, we recommend practicing dry January, or giving up alcohol for the next month. Not only is it easier to commit to than daily exercise routines or a low-carb diet, giving up alcohol is also proven to boost your mental and physical well-being (a good idea after last month's excesses).
To make your dry January feel less like a sacrifice, we spoke to Swoon, a zero sugar simple syrup company, which shared their favorite mocktail recipes with us. Make them for your next friends get together or a post-workout treat; you'll feel lighter, more energetic and ready to tackle whatever this year throws at you.
Shirley Temple
Ingredients
1/2 cup Pomegranate seeds
2 tsp. Swoon
10 oz. Club Soda
Instructions
1. To make the grenadine, muddle the pomegranate seeds in a separate bowl and strain the juice into a separate glass with Swoon.
2. Stir the two together.
3. Add ice and then add the club soda and stir well.
4. Garnish with pomegranate seeds if desired.
Watermelon Lemonade
Ingredients
4 oz. Water
1 oz. Swoon
6 Cubes of Watermelon
1 oz. Lemon Juice
Instructions
1. Place watermelon into a glass and muddle.
2. Squeeze lemon into the shaker.
3. Add Swoon and water and stir.
4. Fill the glass with ice and enjoy!
Strawberry Cinnamon Fix
Ingredients
Muddled Tristar Strawberries
Freshly grated cinnamon
1.5 oz. Swoon
1.5 oz. Lemon juice
Instructions
1. Muddle strawberries in a glass and top with crushed ice.
2. In a separate glass, combine lemon juice and Swoon. Pour mixture into the glass with ice.
3. Grate cinnamon on top.
4. Garnish with strawberry slices.
Blackberry Smash
Ingredients
1 oz. Swoon
8 Blackberries
6 Mint Leaves
1/2 Lemon, juiced
Instructions
1. Muddle blackberries and mint in a cocktail shaker.
2. Add Swoon, ice and lemon juice to shaker.
3. Shake well and strain into a glass over ice.
Grapefruit Fizz
Ingredients
1/2 Grapefruit, juiced
1 oz. Swoon
4 oz. Club Soda
Ice
Instructions
1. Squeeze grapefruit juice into a glass.
2. Add Swoon and club soda and stir.
3. Garnish with a grapefruit slice.
Paloma
Ingredients
.5 oz. Swoon
2 oz. Fresh Squeezed Grapefruit Juice
1 oz. Lime juice
2 oz. Club Soda
Instructions
1. Fill your glass with ice.
2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add the grapefruit, Swoon, and lime juices.
3. Shake well then strain into your glass.
4. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Lemonade
Ingredients
1 oz. Lemon Juice
1 oz. Swoon
4 oz. Water
Ice
Instructions
1. Squeeze lemon juice into a pitcher.
2. Add Swoon and water and stir.
3. Place additional slices of lemon into the pitcher.
4. Pour the contents of the pitcher into separate glasses with ice.
Berry Banana Smoothie
Ingredients
1 cup Frozen Strawberries
1 Banana
1 cup Frozen Raspberries
2 tbsp. Swoon
Instructions
1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth!
