Spring Fashion Trends for Your Closet
Joy Kingsley-Ibeh, CEO and Founder of DC-based Kingsley Model + Talent Management knows fashion. When she’s not running her modeling and talent agency, she’s helping some of the most high-profile people in DC and beyond look their best. We caught her in between styling sets and asked her to share her best advice on spring fashion. Here, she lets us into her very fashionable world.
We’re finally welcoming warm weather. Tell me – what are some of the top spring/summer trends we’ll be seeing this year?
Ah, hopefully the warm weather is finally here to stay! This season, get ready to see a lot of vibrant colors, fringe, denim and see-through boldness. Think florals, pastel hues, and statement sleeves. It's all about embracing joy and optimism in your wardrobe!
What did you see on the runways this year, that’s translating over to closets?
What a whirlwind on the runways this year! From the catwalk to your closet, expect to see a lot of oversized blazers, sheer textures, and modern takes on '90s minimalism fashion. It's all about mixing nostalgia with contemporary flair!
First it was Quiet Luxury, then we had Mob Wife aesthetic for a hot second. Any buzzword trends we should have on our radar?
From Quiet Luxury to Mob Wife chic, the fashion world sure knows how to keep us on our toes! This year, keep an eye out for 'Effortless Glam,' 'Elevated Leisure,' and 'Eco-Chic' as some of the buzzword trends to add a touch of sophistication and sustainability to your style.
Let’s talk about accessories. If our readers were going to update for spring, what are the top three accessories they should buy this season?
Accessories are the cherry on top of any outfit! For a spring refresh, consider investing in oversized sunglasses to shield you in style, a statement straw bag for those beach days, and chunky gold jewelry to add a touch of glamour to any look.
There are some classics that never go out of style. If you’re looking to add some spring staples to your wardrobe, what would those be?
Classics never go out of style! Every spring wardrobe needs a versatile denim jacket that goes with everything, a crisp white button-down shirt for effortless chic, and a pair of comfortable espadrilles to elevate your casual looks. However, I would swap those espadrilles for some cool colorful or crisp white sneakers.
Finally, as a stylist, what is the best advice you can give someone when shopping the trends? How do you know if it’s something right for you?
When it comes to shopping for the latest trends, my best advice is to stay true to yourself! If a trend speaks to your personal style and makes you feel confident, go for it. Remember, it's all about having fun with fashion and expressing your unique personality through your wardrobe choices.
