We all know (and love) Citarella's tasty fish and barbecue recipes. But it's also worth checking them out when you're craving something sweet. Case in point: these sea salt chocolate chip cookies.

“This recipe is inspired by the beloved cookies of Chef Carolina, which we sell in the market, ” says Citarella owner Joe Gurrera, who suggests you make it a group effort. “Baking together is a great thing to do when you’re home with kids.” And eating delicious chocolate chip cookies is a great thing to do always.

Ingredients

∙ 1¼ cup all-purpose flour
∙ ½ teaspoon baking soda
∙ ½ teaspoon baking powder
∙ ¼ tsp salt
∙ ¾ cup chocolate chips
∙ ¼ teaspoon sea salt
∙ 1 stick unsalted butter
∙ ½ cup white sugar
∙ ½ cup brown sugar
∙ 1 egg
∙ ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

1) Preheat oven to 350ºF (use convection settings if you have them).

2) Mix dry ingredients in bowl; set aside.

3) Cream butter and both sugars in bowl until completely combined.

4) Add egg and vanilla extract, and mix until completely combined.

5) Add dry ingredient mix until completely combined. Note: Batter may become crumbly, but keep mixing until you get a dough that sticks to itself.

6) Fold in chocolate chips.

7) Drop tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheet.

8) Sprinkle each with sea salt.

9) Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden brown.

10) Remove from oven and let sit for 2 minutes, then place cookies on wire rack until completely cooled.
